This is for a proposed demonstration power station, using Victorian developed technology, which will generate up to approximately 600MW of electricity for sale in to the National Electricity Market by 2013. It is planned to be sited in Morwell in the Latrobe Valley. The primary fuel used for power generation will be synthesis gas (syngas) generated from brown coal. Natural gas is expected to be used for start up, as well as supplementary fuel.
This new power station is to be located to the rear of the current Energy Brix complex.
