Dual Gas update
The statutory time frame for EPA to decide on the application was originally 2nd January 2011. However, in undertaking its assessment, EPA found that more information was required in certain areas. Two notices requiring this information were issued to the project proponent in November 2010. These notices have now "stopped the clock" on the statutory time frame until such time as the requested information has been completely provided. Requests for more information are a normal part of assessing a works approval application. EPA is continuing to assess the application but will be unable to complete this until the extra information has been received .

Dual Gas WA 67043
EPA Victoria will host a public conference on October 20 as part of the works approval process to assess the Dual Gas application to build a demonstration power station at Morwell. The conference will be chaired by an independent facilitator, who will also provide a report on key issues raised which will be considered in EPA’s assessment of the application.
Public submissions and online comments from the public were considered as part of EPA’s assessment of the proposal against the relevant environmental policies and guidelines.
The conference will be held at 6pm, at Premiere Function Centre, 29 Grey Street, Traralgon.

Barwon Water Northern Water Plant
Barwon Region Water Corporation (“Barwon Water”) has been successful in their application for a works approval, which was issued on 14 September 2010. Works approval is now available to download.
EPA’s assessment determined that the proposal is consistent with the Environment Protection Act 1970, the relevant State Environment Protection Policies and best practice guidelines. EPA considered all comments and issues raised, during the public consultation process, when making the decision. For more detail see the link on the right hand side of this page.

Dual Gas WA 67043
Dual Gas Pty Ltd has advised that it has re-submitted its works approval application to
build a demonstration power station at Morwell, in the Latrobe Valley.
EPA will hold a public information session on September 23 ,7.00pm to be held at the Quality Inn Latrobe Convention centre, Traralgon.

ANL seeks review of EPA decision at VCAT
On 31 May 2010 ANL applied to have EPA's decision reviewed by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal pursuant to section 33 of the Environment Protection Act 1970. The next directions hearing at VCAT will be on 22 July 2010.
